Lines and Shapes Study
by Jake Batchelder
Captured in late February, this series is an examination of the architectural subtleties that Chicago is home to. The city during the winter is harsh to say the least. Brutal winds and sub-zero temperatures allowed for empty streets and a unique perspective of the surroundings. Without the distraction of human interactions that are so common with large metropolitan areas, I was able to focus solely on the shapes and sight lines that were waiting to be discovered. A collage of geometrical patterns coming together from seemingly unconnected sources.
